Luís A. Alexandre received the B.Sc. degree (1994) in Physics/Applied Mathematics and the M.Sc. (1997) and the Ph.D. (2002) degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computers from the University of Porto, Portugal.
He received the Agregado degree in 2013 from the University of Beira Interior, Portugal, where he is a Full Professor. His current research interests include deep neural networks, 3D computer vision and collaborative robots. He has over 90 research publications including books and papers in international journals and conferences. He is a researcher at the Instituto de Telecomunicações and the head of a lab at the University of Beira Interior. He is also a member of the Portuguese Association for Pattern Recognition and served as a member of the Executive Committee of the European Neural Network Society from 2008 to 2010.
